How I finally lost my tummy fat and back fat — without calorie counting or punishing diets

For years, I thought losing tummy fat and back fat meant eating less, exercising more, and pushing harder.

But what I didn’t realise was that my body wasn’t the problem — my stress, hormones, gut health and lifestyle were.

In 2023, I was the most stressed I had ever been.



I was exhausted, overwhelmed and constantly eating and drinking to cope.

My body showed it — especially around my stomach and back, where women store fat when cortisol is high.

I felt out of control.

But everything changed when I made one decision:

That single choice transformed my body and mind more than any diet ever has.

The real reason I couldn’t shift the tummy & back fat

It wasn’t laziness.
It wasn’t lack of willpower.
It wasn’t because I “didn’t try hard enough.”

It was stress.

Chronic stress pushes cortisol sky-high, and when cortisol is elevated:

Walking away from The Healthy Mummy business was one of the scariest thing I’ve done…
but also one of the best.

My hunger calmed and my energy shot up.

4. I started lifting weights and building lean muscle

For years I thought cardio = weight loss.

I was wrong.

Weights changed my shape, my metabolism and my strength.

My back tightened, my core strengthened, and my tummy finally started to shrink.

5. I focused on improving my gut health

Fixing my gut was one of the biggest shifts:

  • Less bloating
