Jacqui's menopause story and health change
My name is Jacqui I’m 42, I live in Brisbane and I have a 15 yr old daughter and I’m a support worker.
For years I have suffered both physical and mental health challenges.
I was stuck between feeling numb, anxious and sad and now I'm finding my love for nature and scenery and the outside world again.
My daughter made a comment tonight that struck a cord with me, she said “mum I haven’t seen you laugh so much and be this light and fluffy to be around in over a year” and it was the best compliment I’ve received in a long time.
I’m guessing it’s a combination of my anxiety getting a lot better, my body being able to move much more freely, and my weight loss, but I’m really discovering joy in the world again.
13 months ago I was diagnosed with cancer and after a full hysterectomy went into instant surgical menopause. 13 weeks after my surgery my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. It was tough, especially when we lost him in March.
Menopause has been challenging, my weight had ballooned, and my mental health had plummeted.
The battle of grieving and trying to balance my weight and hormones was sending me crazy. I felt so lost. Then I saw a post for Zing Wellbeing and thought I'd check it out.
After seeing some posts from Behaviour coach, Rae Willingham, I was completely intrigued. It just looked amazing and I knew I had to try it. I was especially excited to see the menopause meal plan.
I had a lot of bad habits to give up. I saw the post from Rae about changing behaviours and I decided to follow her advice and start small.
I was a long time Coke drinker, I could drink up to 2 litres a day. I started cutting down and replacing it with coke no sugar caffeine free, and as the days went on I realised I was having less and less and drinking more water.
I now drink almost 2 litres of water a day and I have the occasional caffeine free coke. My next goal was to kick the after dinner binge eating and then up my exercise game.
Knowing I have a trip coming up soon I was starting to feel that anxiety creep back in. After watching yet another live with Rae, I decided to add tapping back into my daily routine because I know it’s worked for me before.
As I tackled these habits one by one I was starting to feel better both physically and mentally.
My skin was healthier, I wasn’t so bloated or breathless and my mind is so much clearer.
I went from having trouble putting my socks on to being able to smash out a 600 calorie dance workout.
As an added bonus I’ve now lost 10 kilos and excited to continue becoming a healthier version of myself.
I can’t thank the team at Zing Wellbeing enough for providing such an amazing holistic program.
I have learnt so much about changing our behaviours and how to fuel our bodies better.
Jac says, "For those who are sitting on the fence, watch the videos, arm yourself with knowledge, start off slow and have fun with it."
Jac has also used our protein powder and gives her review
"I was so excited when I saw Zing bringing out a protein powder. Admin were super helpful and fast, checking with the manufacturer to reassure me the ingredients were safe as I have allergies.
What incredible service! The product itself….. wow wow wow!!! It’s so delicious, and smooth and creamy, no grit like you get with other protein powders and it leaves you wanting more.
I have used it as a smoothie and mixed into my morning yoghurt with fruit. It’s so versatile. I definitely highly recommend. ! Can’t wait to try the vanilla!
