Meal-prep tips

This is best prepared fresh, but you can meal-prep it.

Fridge: If cooked cool completely and store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Freezer: Yes, the banana-oat base can be frozen. Cool completely, place baking paper between portions and freeze in an airtight container for up to 2 months for best quality.

Reheating: Microwave from chilled for around 30–60 seconds, or reheat in an air fryer for a few minutes. If frozen, thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating for the best texture.

Don't freeze the Greek yoghurt topping or melted chocolate topping with it. Add those fresh after reheating.

Health benefits

Bananas provide potassium, fibre and vitamin B6, while also supplying carbohydrate for energy. They contain both naturally occurring sugars and starch, with the balance changing as the banana ripens.

Oats are the strongest nutritional addition here. They provide whole-grain carbohydrate, fibre, protein, magnesium, phosphorus, iron and zinc. Their soluble fibre, particularly beta-glucan, is associated with benefits for heart health and cholesterol management.

Greek yoghurt can substantially improve the protein content of this meal while providing calcium.

Peanut butter provides protein, healthy unsaturated fats, vitamin E, magnesium and some fibre. It also helps slow the digestion of a predominantly carbohydrate-based meal and makes it more satisfying.
