Brooke has gone from a couch potato to an exercise loving gym junky!

Brooke shares her story after bariatric surgery in 2024 and then joining Zing Wellbeing to support her weight loss and health journey over the last 6 mths.

Brooke says, "When I say I used to love BED ROT, I really mean that -  my favourite thing to do was lying in bed, curled up, scrolling my phone & watching movies/

If I wasn't on the bed, I could be found on the couch, loving life with a good horror movie or TV series."

THAT WAS my way to unwind and hide from my problems of being obese, & hide away from people and the world, BECAUSE  if I was to ignore it,  then I  didn't have to deal with all the changes I had to make to lose weight & get healthy as it was so over whelming. GETTING started was even harder.

NOT to mention - joining me on the couch were the snacks,  which were a packet of Maltesers, maybe some good old Allen's lollies, maybe some Tim Tam's and let's chuck in some Twisties in there too.

It made me happy, I felt relaxed, I loved the feeling of chewing, it took my stress away, it was my comfort.

It was my way to cope with my stress, deal with how I was feeling; it was an addiction and a hard cycle to break.

On top of that, I hated exercise, the thought of walking would give me anxiety as it felt like a chore.

I never liked how I felt exercising, as my body would hurt so much, and then I would feel bad and start a diet, and couldn't commit because the results weren't fast.

I wasn't in the right mindset. I wasn't willing to make changes, so therefore nothing CHANGED.

I made excuses after excuses, and then the saying I try tomorrow, or next week, then it would just never happen.

I used to think OMG weight loss is going to take too long, I will never do it and then the process of not making changes didn't change anything, it was a nasty cycle.

So, 9 Months ago, I took a BIG life-changing decision to have weight loss surgery.

I KNEW I had problems with my health, mobility &  to have weight loss surgery was my only way out to be able to survive.

It was my only chance to beat obesity and change my life around to a life my body deserved.

After weight loss surgery, it didn't take away the mental side, the thoughts of wanting to eat unhealthy and food noise was still there & the only thing that the surgery had  changed was how much food I could consume & this is when I SAID," AM READY TO CHANGE" & I need to find a program to help me or I WON'T CHANGE.

Then Brooke joined Zing Wellbeing and hasn't looked back!

I came across Zing Wellbeing, I was in the public group and was peeking in, when  I saw these amazing powerful women living healthy and were all so inspiring & what stood out to me was how Zing isn't about weight loss its about HEALTH & learning to live a healthy life style its all about a holistic approach to your health & your OWN personalised journey.

The program caters to anyone.

During my time with Zing Wellbeing in the last seven months,  the program has really assisted my mental wellbeing & has coached me in the right direction to beating obesity, and with the knowledge and tools the program is assisting my weight loss journey to beating obesity.

I have learnt to set goals & how to establish a exercise routine, how to journal, how to manage stress, manage sleep, what to eat to nourish my body and how to take small steps in to moving my body as well as being sure to have self care days and how to push through days I want to give up.

ZING WELLBEING taught me the strength to push through to success 🙌  and I have been able to reach goals which are small, medium, and long term goals.

And I have smashed every goal and achieved a lot of success in my overall health.

Brooke's tips to get out of bed and off the couch!

Here are my TIPS on how I became a BED ROTTER to an EXERCISE LOVER: ⬇️⬇️

✨️Start small and don't overthink it, slowly do exercise twice a week if need be, and once you learn that habit and consistently doing that then add on a extra day.

✨️I started off with just walks, & choosing 3 days a week and set my time for 15 to 30minutes to walk.

✨️Once I established 3 successful days of walking, I added in a extra day until I moved myself up to 6 days a week.

Eventually I did 7 days and it just became a routine and it just became routine and felt natural. Most days I was walking 3 to 5km and it was a small walk as my fitness improved quite quickly.

✨️ If I didn't want to walk, I just simply did it anyway & once I was walking I was ok.
I still got it done and often found myself walking further on days I didn't want to. It was just my mind and thoughts & I had to just learn to push through and keep being consistent.

✨️I used my Zing Wellbeing planner and journal to track my monthly progress and where I was lacking I use those as my goals for the following months and journaling really helped me to prioritise my barriers & being able to track my progress also helped me visually and held me accountable. It's a really great tool, learning to journal.

✨️I tried something new, with Zing Wellbeing there is a lot of work out videos and I came across a program on the app which was using dumbell weights and I followed the 7 Day Fittness Plan by Zing Wellbeing for over 7 weeks on top of my walking & I found a NEW hobby for weights and absolutely loved it!

✨️I then joined Zap a local gym, and this is where my journey started 2 months ago, and I am obsessed with working out and I am at the gym 5 to 6 days a week & I am loving how my body feels and my fitness & strength has improved.

I have a passion for using weights and I feel empty if I don't exercise. It just became a routine, and on days I don't want to exercise, I just keep turning up.

Consistency is everything.

Brooke's motivation tips

TO KEEP MOTIVATED, I ALSO DID THE FOLLOWING:

➡️Tracking my fitness progress & not putting pressure on myself. IF I missed a day, I didn't let that become a habit I made sure to turn up the next day.

✨ I ️ tracked how long it took me to walk 3 to 5kms and I would try to beat my time and how many days out of the month I could walk for

✨️Tracked my weight training and how much i was able to lift each week

✨️ Do any small body movement at home from bar push ups, squats, planks, stretching, just to keep my body moving even if it meant I did just ten of those exercises it all added up and I now randomly move my body at home to get that bit of exercise in, and that included some zing work out videos whoch are great fun.

✨️Rewarding myself for reaching goals

✨️Joining friends at the gym or for walks

✨️Changing up my routine to make bit more fun, I am now trying boxing.

But the main thing is being consistent, be patient, & kind and keep trying.

It took me 4 months to establish an exercise routine & took me months to enjoy exercise -  it didn't happen in one night.
