12 month weight loss transformation: How one Zing Wellbeing member became fitter & stronger
What difference can 12 months of healthier habits, consistency and regular exercise really make?
For one Zing Wellbeing member, Lauren Jones, the answer is a huge one.
After starting her Zing Wellbeing health and weight loss journey in September last year, she recently compared a photo taken at the beginning of her journey with a new photo taken after a gym session almost 12 months later.
The transformation is incredible.
But what she loves most isn't simply the difference she can see in the before-and-after photos.
Lauren feels fitter. She feels stronger. She feels healthier. And she says she even looks younger!
Her story is a brilliant reminder that sustainable weight loss and improving your health aren't about finding a quick fix. They're about what can happen when you give yourself enough time to build healthier habits and keep going.

A 12-month Zing Wellbeing transformation
Like so many women, this Zing Wellbeing member began her journey wanting to make positive changes to her health.
She recently shared her transformation with the Zing community:
"I began my journey in September last year and wow! What a difference a quick 12 months can make with Zing, hard work and motivation."
Her first photo was taken in September at the beginning of her journey.
The second was taken almost a year later, after a trip to the gym.
Placed side by side, they tell an incredible story.
But while weight loss before-and-after photos can be incredibly motivating, they only show one part of a health transformation.
For her, some of the biggest changes are how she feels.
"I feel incredibly grateful for Zing Wellbeing. I wouldn't be here without it. I feel fitter, stronger and I even think it's safe to say I look younger! Maybe..."
Why a 12-month approach to weight loss can be so powerful
When women decide they want to lose weight, it's very easy to focus on how quickly they can get results.
How much weight can I lose this month?
Can I lose weight in six weeks?
How can I lose weight quickly?
But sustainable weight loss doesn't need to be a race.

Imagine instead asking yourself:
Where could I be 12 months from now if I started making healthier choices today?
Twelve months gives you time to build habits rather than relying purely on motivation.
It gives you time to learn new healthy recipes, improve your nutrition, increase your movement, build strength and work out what actually fits into your lifestyle.
There will inevitably be weeks where everything goes brilliantly and other weeks where life gets in the way.
The goal isn't perfection.
The goal is to keep coming back.
Weight loss isn't the only sign you're making progress
One of the things we love about this transformation is that our member doesn't just talk about weight.
She talks about being fitter and stronger.
For women, this is incredibly important.
A successful health journey shouldn't only be measured by the number on the scales.
Progress can also mean:
- Feeling stronger
- Improving your fitness
- Increasing your daily movement
- Building or maintaining muscle
- Having more confidence in the gym
- Eating more nutritious foods
- Developing a healthier relationship with exercise
- Feeling more comfortable in your body
- Creating habits you can maintain long term
Sometimes the scales won't tell the whole story.
This is also why taking progress photos can be such a useful tool.
When you see yourself every day, it can be difficult to recognise gradual physical changes. Comparing photographs taken several months apart can show just how much progress you've actually made.

Can strength training help transform your body?
Our member's latest photograph was taken after a gym session, which highlights another important part of many women's health journeys: strength training.
While cardio and walking can absolutely form part of a healthy lifestyle, resistance training has benefits that go well beyond simply burning calories.
Strength training can help build and maintain muscle, improve physical strength and support bone health and functional fitness.
This becomes particularly important for women as we get older.
Rather than focusing exclusively on becoming smaller, we want women to think about becoming stronger, fitter and healthier too.
And you don't necessarily need to spend hours in a gym to start.
Resistance exercises can be performed at home or in the gym using body weight, dumbbells, resistance bands or other equipment.
The most important thing is finding an approach you can realistically continue.

Healthy eating doesn't need to mean going on a restrictive diet
Nutrition is another important part of creating sustainable results.
But eating for better health doesn't have to mean surviving on salads, eliminating entire food groups or following an extremely restrictive diet.
At Zing Wellbeing, our focus is on helping women make healthy eating something that works in real life.
That means enjoying nutritious meals while still eating food you genuinely look forward to.
Planning meals can also remove one of the biggest barriers to healthy eating: deciding what to eat when you're already hungry, tired or busy.
Having a plan, recipes and shopping list ready can make healthier choices significantly easier to maintain.
The secret to a successful 12-month transformation? Consistency
Motivation is fantastic when you have it.
But motivation naturally comes and goes.
That's why one of the most important lessons from long-term weight loss success stories is the importance of consistency.
You don't need 365 perfect days.
Missing a workout doesn't ruin your progress.
Having a meal that wasn't planned doesn't mean you've failed.
Having a difficult week doesn't mean you need to start again next Monday.
You simply make the next positive choice.
Over weeks and months, those choices can add up.
And eventually, you can look back at a photograph from 12 months earlier and realise just how far you've come.

Why community can make a health journey easier
Changing your lifestyle can sometimes feel isolating, particularly if the people around you aren't working towards the same goals.
That's why having a supportive health and weight loss community can be so valuable.
Sharing progress, getting new meal ideas, participating in challenges and seeing other women's transformations can provide accountability and encouragement on the days when motivation isn't quite as strong.
Lauren says the Zing Wellbeing community and program have played an important part in her journey.
"I feel incredibly grateful for Zing Wellbeing. I wouldn't be here without it."
And now her transformation has the opportunity to motivate another woman who may be wondering whether she can make a change too.

What could your health look like 12 months from now?
This may be our favourite part of Lauren's update:
"No turning back now! I look forward to what the next 12 months brings. Cheers to you Zing!"
Because reaching a milestone doesn't have to mean the journey is over.
There is always another opportunity to become stronger, improve your fitness, discover new healthy foods, challenge yourself or simply continue protecting the progress you've already made.
If you're currently at the beginning of your own health or weight loss journey, don't be discouraged by how far you think you have to go.
You don't have to change everything today.
Start with one meal.
One walk.
One workout.
One healthier choice.
Then make another.
Because 12 months from now, you might look back at the photo you take today and barely recognise just how far you've come.
Congratulations on an incredible first 12 months. We can't wait to see what the next 12 months bring!
