7 Healthy Christmas Treats that everyone will love

Fruit Christmas Tree

Serve: 10

Ingredients

  • 1 fresh pineapple
  • 500g strawberries
  • 3  oranges
  • 1 mango
  • 2 cups green grapes
  • 2 kiwi fruits
  • 1 watermelon/ honeydew melon
  • 250g blueberries
  • 200g cherries
  • Fresh mint or rosemary

Extra: Craft cone and toothpicks required  

Note: You could get creative with a cheese block or solid fruit like a watermelon as the base.

Method: 

Slice pineapple into chunks. 

Slice tops off strawberries. 

Slice kiwi into quarters. 

Peel oranges and break into segments. 

Slice the mango and melon into chunks.

Place a craft cone onto a serving plate.

Gently hook the strawberries and fruit onto the toothpicks and push toothpicks into the cone. 

Repeat the process with large pieces of fruits like grapes, oranges, melon, cherries and kiwi. 

Fill in smaller areas with blueberries. 

Fill remaining gaps with fresh mint leaves or rosemary sprigs. 

Top with a slice of star shaped melon or cheese. 

Use your creativity to make it look like a Christmas tree and add other kinds of fruits and veggies if desired!

Cheesy Christmas tree 

Serve: 8

Ingredients:

  • 250g mini mozzarella cheese balls
  • 250g cheddar or mozzarella cheese cut into cubes
  • 250g cherry tomatoes
  • 300g black and green olives
  • 200g salami (optional)
  • 200g Fresh fruits: blueberries, cranberries, cherry
  • Fresh dill or rosemary

Extra: Craft cone and toothpicks required

NOTE: You could get creative and use brie wheels or a block of cheese as your base.

Method: 

Slice the cheese into small chunks if required. 

Place a craft cone onto a serving plate.

Gently hook the cherry tomatoes and other ingredients onto the toothpicks/skewers and push toothpicks into the cone. 

Repeat the process with cheese, olives, and salami. 

Fill remaining gaps with fresh dill or rosemary. 

Top with a cheese star. 

Use your creativity to make it look like a Christmas tree and add other ingredients if desired!

Chocolate Christmas Lolly  

Serve: 12

Ingredients:

  • 200g white chocolate
  • 200g dark chocolate
  • Christmas sprinkles
  • 12 Pretzel sticks

Method: 

Line a large tray with parchment paper. 

Lay pretzel sticks on the tray and add chocolate into 2 piping bags. 

Make the Christmas tree shape over a pretzel stick, covered with sprinkles.

Put it in the fridge to set.

No Bake Christmas Wreaths 

Serve: 1 wreath

Ingredients:

  • 50g White Chocolate, melted (you can use dark choc or a mix if preferred)
  • 11 Pretzels (per wreath)
  • Christmas Sprinkles

Note: if making more than one wreath melt a full block of chocolate or as much as required.

Method:

Line a baking tray with parchment paper. 

Melt the white chocolate in the microwave in 30 seconds or until smooth.

Half dip the pretzels in the white chocolate and place them in a circle on the baking tray. Make 2 layers. 

Add the christmas sprinkles and pop in the fridge to set.

Strawberry Santas with Cream Cheese

Serve: 6

Ingredients: 

250g fresh strawberries

50g light cream cheese, softened (swap for greek yoghurt if preferred)

1 tsp coconut sugar or maple syrup

½ tsp vanilla extract

50g Mini dark chocolate chips or black sesame seeds 

Method: 

Prep the strawberries:

  • On a cutting board, slice the stem off the strawberry. 

  • Cut the top third of the strawberry, this will be used as the hat. 

Prep the filling:

  • In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla. 

  • Place creamed mixture inside a piping bag and snip one corner off. 

Assemble:

  • Top strawberry base with cream mixture, top with the strawberry hats, and top the hat with a small cream cheese ball. 

  • Use mini chocolate chips or black sesame seeds to decorate Santa's eyes.

  • Serve immediately or store in the fridge for a few hours!

Spinach and Feta Pinwheels

Serve: 8

Ingredients: 

Pinwheels:

  • 1 sheet reduced fat puff pastry
  • 50-70g baby spinach leaves, finely chopped
  • 2 spring onions, finely chopped
  • 50g feta, crumbled 
  • 20g grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, whisked 
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method: 

1. Preheat the oven to 200°C. 

Line a baking tray with parchment paper. In a medium bowl combine the spinach, spring onion, feta, parmesan, egg (reserve some to brush before baking), salt, and pepper. Combine until it becomes like a thick paste. 

2. Place the puff pastry sheet onto a flat surface and spread the mixture evenly over the pastry. Roll it into a tight spiral log and seal the edge by pressing it gently.

3. Slice the log into 2cm thick pinwheels, place them onto the baking trays, and brush lightly with the egg wash.

4. Bake or airfry at 200C for 10-20 minutes or until they are golden and puffed up. 

Allow spinach and feta pinwheels to cool before serving. Enjoy with your fav sauce!

Basil Pesto Cheesy Puff Pastry Christmas Tree  

Serve: 15

Ingredients: 

  • 2 sheets of reduced fat puff pastry
  • ½ cup basil pesto
  • ½ cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg, whisked
  • 2 tbsp hot honey sauce
  • 1-2 tsp red chilli flakes

Method: 

Heat your oven to 180C and line a baking tray with parchment paper

Roll out a sheet of puff pastry on a flat surface. Spread the pesto all over the pastry and sprinkle mozzarella evenly over the pesto. Add another pastry sheet large enough to cover the pesto pastry sheet. 

Slice into strips 2.5cm strips.

Fold into Christmas trees and press skewers through the pastry trees. *see video below

Place them on the lined baking tray. 

Brush the trees with egg wash and bake for 15 minutes or until they look super golden and puffed. 

Remove from the oven, drizzle with hot honey and red chilli flakes if desired.
