For over 12 years, my life was dedicated to The Healthy Mummy.
I poured my heart and soul into building a community that empowered women to lose weight and feel their best.
But when the company changed hands in 2022, I found myself in an unexpected place. When I sold the company I was fully intending to stay on for the long term and I was excited about the future.
However, it ended up being very different story to how I thought it was going to turn out and the extreme stress I was placed under and how I was treated with the new owners left me physically unwell, mentally unwell and emotionally drained.
The stress had taken an immense toll on me, and for the first time in years, I had to stop and ask myself: At what cost?
That moment of clarity was the real beginning of my health transformation.

Why I Chose My Mental Wellbeing Over Money and Stress
Walking away from The Healthy Mummy was one of the hardest decisions of my life. It was my baby, my passion, my everything. But the new environment was no longer aligned with my values, and the stress was overwhelming.
My values have also always been about standing up for women, standing up for your rights, standing up for yourself and not being governed my money - so when I was in the situation I was in I also had to stay true to my values and not allow myself to remain in such a toxic and stress inducing situation which was so damaging for my health.
I had always known that stress wasn’t good for us, but I never truly understood just how destructive it could be. Chronic stress and elevated cortisol levels wreak havoc on the body—contributing to weight gain, inflammation, poor sleep, gut issues, and even mental health struggles.
I realised I had spent years prioritising my business over my own health. So, I made a promise to myself: I will put my health—mental, physical, and emotional—first. And that’s when everything changed.
Making the difficult decision to leave The Healthy Mummy and the new owners, was the first step in my health and mindset transformation - which although it has been a rocky road I am so happy I made that decision in 2022.
As that decision led to me taking a different and holistic approach to health and creating the Zing Wellbeing program which as well as helping 1000's of women be in their best heath - it helped me in my best health and lose tummy fat, regain energy and get in the best health possible.
Discovering the Holistic Approach to Health
Walking away from The Healthy Mummy changed my mindset and approach to everything in my life.
I had a new appreciation and understanding of what stress can do to our body.
For so long, my health had been reduced to calories and scales. But as I started truly listening to my body and prioritising my wellbeing, I uncovered a much deeper understanding of what it means to be healthy.
I started researching, learning, and working with experts in every area of health—nutritionists, exercise physiologists, naturopaths, and mental wellbeing coaches. I discovered that true health isn’t just about losing weight. It’s about hormonal balance, gut health, stress management, strength, sleep, and mindset.
This journey of knowledge and self-discovery is what led me to create Zing Wellbeing—a women's health company focused on holistic wellbeing, not just weight loss.
Every day, I am grateful to be able to start fresh and build something that is truly transforming women's lives.
And even though I have had an enormous amount of stress (you can read my stress journey here) it is this stress and experience which led me to create a women's health and wellness platform that is holistic and looks at supporting women in every aspect of their health - whether it be weight loss, to menopause, to mental wellbeing, to nutrition to fitness to wellness.

My health transformation
I cannot explain how much better I feel today than in 2022. I was not in a good place and was in a constant state of anxiety and physical sickness.
I would wake up throughout the night and the sickness feeling in the pit of my stomach was always there and my heart rate was constantly raised and then shooting constantly through the day through everything that was happening.
Today I am happy, stress free, sleeping well and energised.
I would never wish on anyone what I had to go through but I am so grateful that today my life is so different and I made the decision to walk away and prioritised my health.
I have also been able to really focus on my physical health and nutrition and I now have a new love of exercise and focusing on food as medicine and that has led me to losing 10kg and losing belly fat - which is commonly known to happen from excess stress.

The 5 Biggest Changes That Transformed My Life
Looking back, other than making the decision to walk away from The Healthy Mummy and all the stress I was under, these five changes had the most profound impact on my transformation.
Each of them is backed by science and has completely reshaped how I feel, look, and function every day.
1. Increasing My Protein to 90g a Day
I used to think protein was just for bodybuilders, but I’ve since learned how crucial it is for metabolism, muscle repair, hormone balance, and satiety.

Protein helps regulate blood sugar and energy levels.

It preserves lean muscle mass, especially as we age.

It boosts metabolism, helping with fat loss.
Now, I make sure I hit 90g of protein daily, and I’ve never felt stronger or more energised.
I have such a focus on it that I created a vegan and organic Zing Wellbeing protein powder too
2. Doing Weight-Bearing Exercises 3-4 Times a Week
Cardio used to be my go-to, but I discovered that strength training is one of the most powerful tools for women's health.

Lifting weights improves bone density, reducing the risk of osteoporosis.

It helps increase lean muscle, which boosts metabolism and fat loss.

It improves posture, confidence, and overall strength.
Now, I do weight-bearing exercises at least 3-4 times a week, and I feel fitter, stronger, and more empowered than ever.
3. Focusing on Gut Health
Gut health affects everything—from digestion to immunity, mental health, and metabolism. I started incorporating gut-friendly foods and noticed incredible benefits.

I focus on fermented foods, fibre, and probiotics, ensuring my gut is thriving.
4. Going to Bed by 9:30/10 PM and Getting 8 Hours of Sleep
For years, I sacrificed sleep for productivity. But I learned that sleep is non-negotiable for optimal health.

Poor sleep disrupts hormones like cortisol, ghrelin, and leptin, leading to cravings and weight gain.

Deep sleep is essential for muscle recovery, mental clarity, and emotional resilience.

Lack of sleep weakens the immune system and accelerates aging.
Now, I aim for 8 hours of quality sleep every night, and my energy levels, mood, and metabolism have never been better - whereas I used to stay up late and fall asleep in my bed with my computer with me!! (see pic below circa 2017)
5. Changing My Mindset to Focus 100% on Holistic Health
This was the biggest shift of all. For years, I obsessed over numbers—calories, weight, measurements. But once I let go of the diet mentality and focused on true health, everything clicked.

I stopped punishing myself with restrictive diets.

I focused on nourishing my body, not depriving it.

I learned to listen to my body’s signals—eating when hungry, resting when needed.
This change in mindset has brought freedom, joy, and sustainable health into my life.
