Sally shares, "I've been a long-time ZINGer, but I feel it’s finally time to properly share my adventures, well, at least start to tell my story!

My health journey really kicked off back in 2017. At that stage, life was challenging but exciting, juggling three young kids under four.

Despite early struggles (being told at 29 I was already heading into perimenopause!), I managed to hit my stride. I was teaching Zumba, running marathons for fun, and never missed a Saturday parkrun - seriously, I have never missed one unless COVID cancelled it or I was in hospital. I loved life, and I felt great.

But then, in 2020, COVID hit hard. Melbourne lockdowns took away the freedom to run, dance, and have much-needed me-time. I found myself stuck at home, trying to juggle full-time work and homeschooling three kids - aged 4 and 7-year-old twins.

My one hour outside became family walks with kids who didn’t want to be there, and my cherished solo evening walks vanished entirely due to curfews. Work-life boundaries blurred, burnout crept in, and before I knew it, I was constantly grumpy, exhausted, and feeling overwhelmed.

Fast forward to 2023: life threw another curveball - an unexpected hysterectomy which pushed me straight into menopause.

Suddenly, I was navigating a totally new set of health challenges, including dealing with a lipedema diagnosis, a low-FODMAP anti-inflammatory diet, and struggling with feeling embarrassed about the changes in my body and mind. It was hard, and honestly, I felt lost.

Then, in November 2024, something finally clicked. Changing jobs gave me a fresh start, and I realised I needed to prioritise myself again.

Although I'd been using Zing Wellbeing’s recipes on and off since they launched, it wasn’t until early this year, when the Zing Wellbeing app appeared, that I really jumped back into it wholeheartedly.

I feel like the real me - the one who had been hiding away for far too long - is finally back in action, healthier and happier.

Most importantly, I feel genuinely content and back in control.
