Brooke shares her story and raises endometrial hyperplasia PCOS Awareness in the hope it may save someone's life
A massive thank you to Zing Wellbeing community member, Brooke, who has shared her story to raise awareness of endometrial hyperplasia PCOS
"Hello everyone, I want to share one of the reasons I am focusing on my health using the zing wellbeing program mentally , physically, emotionally and for nutrition support not only to support my WLS but to support my hormones and eat well for my overall health.
I have been debating sharing my health journey as its really raw and I only want to give out facts that I have been told about my health but more importantly spread awareness to any PCOS suffer, bot as a scare but as a precaution that your health matters and listen to your body.
My Story:
9 years ago I was diagnosed with PCOS, and during this time I was on 3 diabetic medications as I had developed diabetes type 2 also PCOS related as it can affect insulin levels ect . I was on Jardiance, Metforim and Ozempic to control my sugar levels.
During these years I had irregular bleeding I could go months on end with no period but eventually in 2020 I bled for 9 months straight and ended up in the ER due to severe clots and pain.
I was then scheduled in to have day surgery as my ultra sound had showed I had thick uterus lining which can happen with pcos if you don't ovulate - and it can lead to endomtrial hyperplasia (very unfortunate cases) as pcos can increase the risk of endometrial hyperplasia (EH) because it can lead to an imbalance of estrogen and progesterone.
EH can develop into a precancerous condition which can develop into endometrial carcinoma.
So yes endomrital hyperplasia can develop into endometrial cancer if left untreated.
The gynaecologist decided to treat me with the mirena to support the diagnosis of endomtrial hyperplasia as it has been successful for women using progesterone (IUD), and my cells were clear at time of surgery so I was given the all clear to have the IUD kept in which supports support heavy bleeding also.
So I was treated with progestin from the IUD to shrink my uterus lining.
During the last 5 years the mirena did its job, my bleeding stopped I was back to normal living again but my bleeding started heavy after weight loss surgery SEP 2024 and I ended back into gynaecologist office again last month (Jan 2025) to be told they want to check and get samples as there a chance I could have undiagnosed endomtrial hyperplasia that could be leading to pre cancer cells so here we GO AGAIN round 2.
I am at high risk as my lining is still thick (they not saying i have cancer or pre cancer cells but a risk it could be developing so back under I go for day surgery).
So I am scheduled to have surgery in 6 weeks very quick procedure. If my samples come back clear I will be on the mirena again to support this and if my cells are abnormal I will need a full hysterectomy.
Moral if the story is please if you have PCOS have regular checks and ultra sounds yearly if you can hopefully me sharing my story may even save a life I wasn't even aware of this medical condition so thought i could share maybe spread awareness as it rarely talked about.
Our health as women MATTER! ♡

"This is me before surgery, and five months after, I am so excited to watch myself grow spiritually, mentally and physically using the Zing Wellbeing Health program and the NEW gastric band meal plan.
My advice is for anyone who feels alone after weight loss surgery come and join Zing Wellbeing and step into a new approach to your health journey you won't regret it.
Brooke shares, "5 months ago I was sliced and diced and chose the biggest life changing decision to have the mini gastric bypass surgery.
By all means it isn’t a mini surgery it is just the placements of the cuts that are performed from the bowels to the new stomach pouch and is a less invasive surgery compared to the Y gastric bypass. This was a chosen surgery for myself by my surgeon as I suffer reflux and was the better outcome long term for my health.
Weight loss surgery is a tool to help you with portion control but the main thing no one understands is that the weight doesn’t just fall off after surgery."
