Week 1: Reset Your Health Goals
Start by focusing on what you actually want to achieve.
Rather than setting vague goals such as “get healthy” or “lose weight”, think about how you want to feel. Perhaps you want more energy, better fitness, improved strength, better sleep or greater confidence.
Choose a few realistic goals and break them down into small actions you can repeat each week.
Remember, you don’t have to change everything at once. Consistency with a few simple habits is often more achievable than trying to completely overhaul your lifestyle.

Week 2: Build a Balanced Diet
Healthy eating doesn’t have to mean cutting out your favourite foods or following a strict diet.
Aim to build balanced meals that include a source of protein, plenty of vegetables or fruit, high-fibre carbohydrates and healthy fats.
Protein can help support muscle maintenance and repair, while fibre supports digestive health and can help you feel satisfied after meals.
Simple summer-friendly foods such as eggs, Greek yoghurt, chicken, fish, legumes, wholegrains, vegetables, berries and fresh fruit can make nutritious eating easier.
Week 3: Prioritise Hydration and Energy
As temperatures rise, staying hydrated becomes particularly important.
Water is essential for many processes throughout the body, and even mild dehydration can contribute to feelings of tiredness and reduced concentration.
Keep a water bottle with you throughout the day and make hydration easier by adding fresh fruit, mint or herbs if you prefer extra flavour.
You can also get fluids from foods such as watermelon, cucumber, berries, oranges and yoghurt.
If you regularly feel tired, don’t automatically assume you need more caffeine or sugar. Look at the bigger picture, including your sleep, hydration, nutrition, stress levels and activity.

Week 4: Move More and Get Stronger
Exercise doesn’t need to mean spending hours in the gym.
Walking, swimming, cycling, dancing, group fitness classes and strength training can all contribute to a healthy and active lifestyle.
Strength training is particularly valuable because maintaining muscle becomes increasingly important as we age. Building strength can also support everyday movement, physical function and confidence.
Try to combine regular movement with activities that you genuinely enjoy. The best exercise routine is one you can realistically maintain.
Week 5: Work on Your Mindset
Your mindset can have a huge influence on how you approach your health.
Avoid the “all or nothing” mentality where one indulgent meal becomes an excuse to abandon your healthy habits for the rest of the day or week.
Instead, remind yourself that one meal, missed workout or less-than-perfect day doesn’t undo your progress.
Healthy living is made up of hundreds of small choices. You don’t need to be perfect. You simply need to keep moving forward.
This summer, try replacing self-criticism with more encouraging and realistic self-talk.

Week 6: Make Sleep and Recovery a Priority
Good health isn't just about what you eat and how much you exercise. Sleep and recovery matter too.
Aim to establish a regular sleep routine and create an environment that helps you wind down at night.
You may also benefit from reducing screen time before bed, keeping your bedroom comfortable and finding relaxing activities that help signal to your body that it’s time to sleep.
And remember that rest is part of an active lifestyle. Your body needs time to recover from exercise and everyday demands.
Week 7: Support Your Hormones and Women's Health
Women's health can change significantly throughout life, and your nutritional and lifestyle needs may change too.
Your menstrual cycle, perimenopause and menopause can all influence things such as energy, sleep, appetite, mood and body composition.
Rather than fighting against these changes, focus on supporting your body with nutritious food, adequate protein, regular movement, strength training, quality sleep and stress management.
If you are experiencing significant or persistent symptoms, speak with your doctor or another qualified healthcare professional for personalised advice.

Week 8: Enjoy Summer Without the Guilt
Healthy living should still leave room for enjoyment.
Summer often means BBQs, holidays, celebrations, meals out and social events. You don’t need to avoid these occasions to maintain healthy habits.
Focus on balance rather than restriction.
Enjoy the foods you love, stay hydrated, keep moving when you can and return to your usual routine afterwards.
There is no need to “start again Monday” after enjoying a celebration.

Your Summer Health Checklist
Over the next eight weeks, focus on:
Eating a variety of nutritious foods
Including protein and fibre regularly
Drinking enough water
Moving your body every day
Building strength
Prioritising quality sleep
Making time for recovery
Managing stress
Supporting your mental wellbeing
Being kind to yourself
Enjoying social occasions without guilt
Most importantly, remember that health is not a destination you have to reach before summer. It is something you can support every day.
You don’t need to completely transform yourself in eight weeks. Instead, use the next eight weeks to build habits that help you feel stronger, healthier, more energised and more confident - and that you can continue well beyond summer.
